Birthday?

Today was a kind of memorable for my facebook use. today I got a birthday reminder for a colleague. I was wondering if he really had his birthday today because I thought it was another day. But there appeared already a lot of wishes on his wall from other friends so I was a little bit more convinced. Even I still had my doubts because the guy don't appear with his real name and he is always a bit concerend about security stuff. So I stayed a bit skeptical. But anyway I did not want to be inpolite and so I wrote something on his wall as well: "Is it really your birthday today? Well, that have fun to celebrate it. Happy birthday." A few minutes later I got already a very ironc comment from another colleague who meant that this day is very memorable. And later the supposed birthday boy answered that it's just his avatar who is celebrating his birthday today. How funny but there came still a lot of wishes from other friends... It seems that through the birthday reminder a birthday wish does not have any value anymore. There is no effort needed anymore to remember a day and you get hundreds of whishes. Maybe in the future Facebook will extend his service and no effort will be needed at all because an automatic generated wish can be generated. How easy would that be. Than everybody can get 1000 wishes. 1000 meanless congratulations from virtual friends.

I have 140 so called friends in my Facebook profile. Compared to the amount of friends that my friends have, I seem to be a good average. But ironcially Facebook does not seem to be a mirror of the real world here and the word "friend" got through facebook another meaning. Some of my "friends" have almost 600 "friends" and others just 20.
 Today I got a friendrequest from a person that I never heared about. I was wondering who she was but I declined her friendship. I set a personal boundery that I will only accept people as friends, that I have met at least once in my live. On the other hand I am friend with people that I haven't seen for a long time and that under normal circumstances I would never have contact again. But anyway it's interesting to be up-to-date with some fotos or funny links. Maybe our path will cross again.

Ending up in nonsense

Actually I am having a lot to do.  A job, a baby to take care of, my household and even my Master thesis that I need to write. I don't have a TV at home for not wasting time and watch senseless stuff. But the problem is that I am spending a lot of time in Internet instead. OK, I am having a job in an internet company and I use internet to be able to stay in contact with friends and family. But again and again I realise that I turn to facebook. And even if I don't have anything to say, nobody to write to, I return to this social network side out of curiosity and read status updates. Today I clicked a link to a video from a flighing fish. I was watching it eagerly when I am asked my self: What I am doing here? Isn't this a great waste of time to watch crazy product descriptions or videos that I wasn't looking for or do I just open my mind? I am not sure yet if I count it for good or bad. But at least I took it as an initiation to write a Blog about my personal facebook experiences.
